A most riveting account of the events that transpire after the previous book’s cliffhanger ending. Against seemingly insurmountable odds, two humans must find a way to escape their dire circumstances on an alien planet. You’ll be captivated by the amount of detail that went into describing an alien world with such realism that the reader can easily envision themselves on its surface. As with all other previous novels in this series, the characters are well-developed and one is regularly and pleasantly surprised by their depth and how they manage to cope with what fate has thrust upon them.

A must-read for all sci-fi enthusiasts that appreciate mind-travelling to other worlds and experience the satisfaction of seeing how cunning and intelligence triumph over just about any obstacle.

    I highly recommend this book.

    G. Martin from Goodreads: An enthralling continuation following the nail-biting cliffhanger of the previous installment. Faced with nearly impossible challenges, two humans strive to escape their bleak situation on an alien planet. The immersive detail in describing this alien world is truly astonishing, making it easy for readers to vividly imagine themselves on its surface. Consistent with the previous books in the series, the characters are masterfully developed, constantly surprising the reader with their depth and resilience as they navigate the trials imposed upon them by fate.

I recommend Spirits of Steel if you enjoy reading about otherworldly realms and find satisfaction in witnessing how ingenuity and intellect overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

  4. Rhys C.

“Spirits of Steel” is the fifth installment in Zanne Raby’s “The Chronicles of Deneb” series, and is set on the alien planet Deneb-7. I’d recommend reading the other books before this one, because it picks up where the last book ends. The novel deals with three separate plots that come together in the end. Each of the plots is about one of the main characters, and each of them face a serious challenge, whether it’s mental or physical (or a combo of both). There’s a bit of everything in the book: military action, psychological predicaments, pushing yourself to the limit, and a splash of romance as well as heart-pounding action. Spirits of Steel explores themes of resilience, deception, and the indomitable human spirit in the fight for survival. As previously mentioned, I’d recommend reading the books in sequence (although there is a kind of prologue at the start). All in all, a good way to spend a weekend reading and thoroughly enjoyed the book.
