Fires of Fury is the third novel in the military-styled sci-fi adventure series The Chronicles of Deneb. A hard-hitting, gritty military science fiction novel with lots of blood and thunder.
Although this is an intriguing book in itself, to gain the full benefit you will need to be in at the very start of the series. You can get a brief idea of the previous history by looking at the back of the book. But I suggest reading the first books in the series before you begin this epic saga.
Full of passion and verve, there is plenty of action and excitement throughout the fast-paced story, and some tension and suspense are thrown into the mix for good measure.
The book is not overly science and technology-heavy, and the story is not over complicated by too many subplots. In fact, for a military space opera, the series has been relatively easy on the eye.
This is not just a shoot-em-up style of sci-fi, as there is an abundance of espionage, political machinations, and the odd touch of romantic interludes to be had. Although, to be fair, the fight scenes tend to get the adrenaline flowing when the battles commence.
I have enjoyed the exploits of Dr Tara Kobor, Dr Daniel Radu and co. and watched with keen interest as things have progressed through the series. Never disappointed and always enthralled by their exploits.
If you get the opportunity, please read the first books in the series, so at least you will get an overview of the politics and the whole coalition situation. I do not think you will be disappointed by one iota.
Thank you, NetGalley and Ridgecrest Books, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), for the copy of the book.

I’ve read all of Zanne Raby’s three novels in the series The Chronicles of Deneb and they keep getting better. Fires of Fury is an exciting read that kept me turning the pages well into the night. I recommend if you haven’t read the first two books in the series, pick them up and give them a read first, although you can get up to speed between the prologue and the back cover. In Fires of Fury, we follow a group of humans who’ve sought refuge on an alien planet. Their arrival throws the natives into a tail spin! When tragedy strikes, the solutions that the natives strike upon lead to some horrific outcomes and some serious soul searching. There’s espionage, intrigue, romance, and some pretty intense battle scenes. If you’re looking for an exciting read, pick up Fires of Fury and get ready for a great sci-fi, space-opera adventure.

Zanne paints the alien world of Deneb with a colorful brush, she makes the planet completely come alive. I’m finding it all so interesting that I can’t wait for the next book. If you like space opera, (similar to Star Wars) then I highly recommend reading Fires of Fury.

If you’re seeking a shoot-em-up kind of scifi story, this is pretty good. It’s probably best to read the previous books in the series first.
